Juliet Shelley began dancing at the age of five and studied dance professionally at the Laban Centre, London and then the Centre for New Dance Development (SNDO) in Amsterdam. She was employed as a dancer, choreographer and teacher with Jointwork Dance Group in England and worked freelance until 1994 when she relocated to New Zealand.

In NZ, Juliet has choreographed, staged and produced numerous dance productions, employing and showcasing national and international composers, musicians, lighting designers and dancers. Her work has been presented in theaters and festivals in England, Italy, New Zealand and Australia.

Juliet has been teaching dance classes and workshops since 1983. She has taught in England, Italy, the Netherlands, Singapore, Australia, New Zealand and the USA.

She was certified as a teacher of the Alexander Technique under Dick and Elizabeth Walker in Oxford, England and has been teaching the technique since 1994 in New Zealand. She was certified as a Pilates mat instructor in 2003 and as a Pilates mat and studio teacher in 2012. She was certified by yoga master teacher Shiva Rae in February 2016 having attended a 45 hour Chakra Prana Vinyasa Teacher Training Immersion with Shiva Rae, Demetri Velasarius and Simon Park.
